ABOUT ALIYAH Carter
Aliyah is an dedicated and passionate computer scientist based in Columbia, South Carolina. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Informatics at the University of South Carolina, building on her strong academic foundation with a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Norfolk State University.
With a diverse skill set in programming languages, cybersecurity, digital forensics, and software development, she has gained extensive experience through various roles, including as an Adjunct Professor at Benedict College and Norfolk State University, and as a Software Developer at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. Her technical expertise is complemented by her research interests in human-centered computing, IoT security, and UX/UI.
Aliyah is committed to fostering academic success and have a proven track record of mentoring and supporting students in their educational journeys. Her industry experience spans technical support, software development, and IT troubleshooting, where she has consistently demonstrated her ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
In addition to her professional pursuits, she am actively involved in community outreach and professional development, contributing to organizations such as the National Society of Blacks in Computing, Association for Computing Machinery, and Blacks In Technology. Aliyah is also a computer teacher assistant volunteer at Richland Library in Columbia, SC.
She is passionate about leveraging technology to make a positive impact and is always eager to learn and grow in the ever-evolving field of computer science.
Aliyah enjoys giving back to the community and is dedicated to influencing African Americans and woman to pursue higher education and careers in STEM.
